What is JGI?
JGI is the body that oversees the development of grassroots junior golf in Ireland for the governing bodies. It is a partnership between the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI), the Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU) and the Professional Golfer's Association Irish Region (PGA). Based at the PGA National in Kildare the work is led by the Director of Development, implemented by its 4 Regional Development Officers and overseen by a voluntary committee comprised of its partner organisations.
Aim of JGI
The aim of JGI is to provide resources and support services to school and clubs at local level, which will result in regular committed golfers, sustainable club structures and perhaps even young golfers who aspire to follow in the footsteps of our Ryder Cup and Curtis Cup players. JGI wishes to create an awareness of golf among children and young people in both primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland, and to create pathways for those children to become regular golfers at club and elite level.
